My Homeowners Insurance Policy has a
coverage called “Personal Liability” – what is that?

The Personal Liability part of the Homeowners Insurance Policy
provides protection against claims of legal liability by you and
the members of your household which cause bodily injury to
others and/or damage to their property.

Examples include situations where your dog bites a visitor,
your child scratches the paint on a neighbor’s car with a thrown rock
or someone trips and injures themselves on a broken piece of your sidewalk.

What is a Personal Umbrella Liability policy?

The Personal Umbrella Liability policy not only
adds additional limits to your home, auto, and boat liability
but adds additional personal coverages not covered on
your Homeowner’s Liability such as protection from lawsuits
while serving on a non-profit board of directors.

The Personal Umbrella Policy gives you the security of
the broadest coverage available for you and your dependents.

Due to changes in federal and state laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Civil Rights Act of 1991, a real exposure exists to business owners and professional offices from lawsuits brought by employees or customers for sexual harassment and/or discrimination. Is there any sort of insurance coverage offered for these business owners and other professionals?

Yes, coverage is available for wrongful termination, sexual harassment and discrimination, including legal liability for such acts. Cambridge Insurance can provide this coverage as well as a free business insurance checkup.
